New in 2016

Heading into the fifth Cardinal & Gold Gala, we have decided to make some changes to the event format based on feedback from past attendees. Some of these changes include:

  • Moving the event back to February
  • Food stations instead of a seated, served dinner
  • Removing the dance at the end of dinner
  • Adding in more time for mingling (and bidding on silent auction items)
  • Additional ways to support the event's causes at lower dollar amounts

Here are some questions you might have about the event. If you have other questions not listed below, contact Katie Lickteig at kbruxvoo@iastate.edu.

Will I still have a reserved seated spot at a table?
Yes. Everyone who attends the event will still have a reserved table to sit at during the evening.

What is new with the pricing?
For individuals, the cost to attend is $100 per person or $75 per person for those who are 32 years of age or younger. A table of 10 costs $1,000 or $750 for those who are 32 years of age or younger.

How many do tables seat?
Tables seat 10 guests (in previous years, it was eight).

Will there still be live entertainment?
Yes. We will still have live music at the event, but there won't be a dance to conclude the evening. (We won't stop you from dancing, though, if you feel the urge!)

Will there be a seated dinner?
No. Based on feedback we have received from past attendees, we will have food stations this year which will offer a variety of New Orleans-style food to go with the Mardi Gras theme.

Has the dress code changed?
Not really. We are still promoting this as a black-tie optional event, meaning dark suits/tuxedos for men and evening/cocktail attire for ladies. If you'd like to add a Mardi Gras twist to your outfit, though, we encourage that.
